EZ Million One Of A Kind

Posted by: Bob Cleveland | Comments (0)

On Saturday, I was saddened to learn of EZ Million’s passing. He passed away due to complications of blood clots and infection. Just recently, he had to

have one leg amputated.

I first met EZ, in 1968-69 at my mom’s house in South OKC. EZ and my brother-in-law were active in the Republican Party and also at that time were always talking about computers. At the time, I actually thought both of them were a little strange.

EZ was one of the first conservatives in Cleveland County. He was a true believer that Congress should follow the Constitution. He preached this long before anyone else had ever thought about using the words “Constitutional Conservative”.

I do not believe we will ever have another EZ Million, he was an excellent statistician, colorful and sometimes controversial. He advocated for the OU/Texas game to be a home and home series and even talked about the amount of money Norman loses each year with the game being in Dallas.

EZ used to call me once or twice a week, asking who is running or who should be running for the Senate or the House in Cleveland County and he would recommend speakers for our luncheon club. He was a major advocate in trying

to get conservatives involved in School Board and City Council races.

I am proud to call EZ Million a friend. We will miss EZ, who without a question, was one of a kind!

Barney Frank !

President Obama has declared June as LBGT ( Lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender) month.

Obama stated ” I am PROUD to be the first president to appoint LBGT candidates to Senate-confirmed positions in the first 100 days of an administration.  These Individuals Embody The Best Qualities We Seek In Public Service.”

If sexual perverts are the best our nation has to offer, then we are in trouble

In violation of every scripture President Obama has:

Turned his back on Israel

Questioned God’s control of his creation

Endorsed homosexuality as a normal lifestyle

Violated basic Bible economic advice concerning deficits.

To save this nation from God’s righteous judgement, every Christian should pray according to 2 Chronicles 7:14

Tobacco And Big Government

Tobacco and Big Government

Recently, I took the day off and went to Bokchito to work at our family ranch. As the day progressed, I decided to drive into Bennington and get a burger. While waiting for the burger, I opened the “Durant Democrat” to catch up on the news there and turned to the Opinion page. I soon realized I was reading one of the most liberal newspapers in the state. Wow, does this paper have some left-wing opinions. One opinion that caught my eye was an article concerning Tobacco Controls.

The article begins with, “In a historic move many thought might never occur, Congress overwhelmingly approved unprecedented new legislation that backers say could go far in addressing the scourge of tobacco.”

It goes on and quotes Obama saying it “truly defines change in Washington.” The House approved it by 309-97 and the Senate 79-17. So, again, we had some Republicans going over to help Obama and change.

The bill put the FDA with new powers. Now I do not smoke and detest cigarette smoke. My brother died at the age of 51 of throat cancer as a result of smoking. My sister died of the same at the age of 69. I loved my brother and sister and miss them dearly. I was with my brother the day the doctor told him he had cancer and would not live six months. I will never forget that day.

Both my brother and sister were well aware of the end results of smoking. Every person in America knows the results of cigarette smoking. Obama is not going to change the results. We are getting a lot of change from Obama and his socialist agenda, and none of his ideas are good for America.

First of all, the FDA did not want control of the tobacco industry. Second, we do not need more government control even with products like tobacco. I do not believe you can pick and choose which big government we want. You are either for or against big government. Is Obama going to ban fatty foods next? Some would say, “No, that’s crazy. There are safe levels of cheeseburger consumption, but not tobacco.”

That may be true, but who is to say what Obama will ban next? I just hope all our Republican friends will just say “NO” to Obama!

Remember what Thomas Jefferson said, “A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take away everything you have.”

The government is claiming that lives will be saved by changing the control of cigarettes to the FDA. Yeah, just like the stimulus was going to put people to work, and if we don’t pass this stimulus right now unemployment will reach 10%. I could go on and on.

Big government is big government. Do we really want EVERYTHING to change?

As one bumper sticker says, “I’ll work to keep America. You keep the change.”

Tom Cole Says “No Way Jose”

Cole Says “No” To Loaded War Supplemental

WASHINGTON – Today Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) issued the following

statement regarding the emergency War Supplemental. Despite the House and Senate previously passing clean versions of the bill, the final

version – the conference report – has been unnecessarily loaded with $108 billion in aid for the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“Last month, the House of Representatives passed a clean troop funding bill on a strong and bipartisan vote – I had hoped to be able to do so

again today,” Congressman Cole said. “But unfortunately the Administration and the Senate chose to load up an otherwise good bill with a $108 billion global bail out. This will permanently increase by

ten fold the IMF’s ability to borrow from the U.S. Treasury. And this comes at a time when our own national resources have been so depleted by

the Obama Administration’s spending spree, that we would have to borrow the money ourselves in order to make it available to the IMF. Something

is seriously wrong with the idea that the United States will essentially borrow money from China in order to establish a line of credit for an

international bank to make loans to foreign countries – some of whom are

our enemies.”

”I am strongly in favor of funding our troops in the field of battle.

But with the size of our troop commitment growing, and our new focus in Afghanistan unfolding, now is not the time to meddle with military

funding measures. Unfortunately the Majority in the House of Representatives decided to push through with this legislation, knowing that they would lose the support of dozens of Republicans. It’s clear

that the Majority has lost the mantle of bipartisanship on this issue. If they are going to talk-the-talk of bipartisanship – they should remember to also walk-the-walk.”
