Kevin Calvey, Iraq War Veteran and Former State Legislator, spoke about the Oklahoma Bar Association and the homosexual agenda at Tuesday’s Republican luncheon in Norman.
Former StateRep. Kevin Calvey who is a lawyer and an Iraq War veteran, talked about the Oklahoma Bar Association’s proposed rule, “Canon 3.6″ that would disqualify a person from being a judge or candidate for a judge if the person belonged to an organization that supposedly discriminated against persons based on “sexual orientation.” Since the issue first became public, the Bar Association passed a new modified version with basically the same end results, according to Calvey.
The new proposed law by some members of the State Bar does not define what organizations are included. It is very vague and unclear what organizations they are referring to. Would someone serving in the Boy Scouts of America be targeted because of the controversy over gays in the Scouts? How about belonging to the Republican Party? Our GOP platform does not approve of homosexual marriage- will the Bar Association thus consider Republicans to be “discriminatory,” and thus ineligible to be judges? Of course, organizations like the Boy Scouts and the Republican Party are not hate groups, but the forces of political correctness will keep anyone who is thinking about serving their community as a judge from being a member of these groups.
What is the result? Do we want our choices in members of the judiciary confined to only people who are not involved in their community, or just to people in agreement with the current standard of political correctness? Do we want private organizations to have to change their policies to cater to the whims of a small minority who don’t really care about the organization? Just how many of our rights are we willing to give up under a false notion of tolerance? Isn’t the homosexual activist position really the intolerant one?
