New Media For House Republicans

House Republicans Announce New Media Video Technology

OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 2, 2009) -House Republican leaders announced today new in-house video capabilities that will give the public increased access to the political process and help members communicate better with their constituents.

The House has hired Jason Warfe, a former television producer, as the House digital media coordinator. He will work as a part of the nonpartisan House media department, shooting production-quality video clips to send out with member-requested press releases.

The video clips will be available to the media to use in news stories, but will also be available on a Web site – www.okhouse.tv<http://www.okhouse.tv/> – where Oklahomans will be able to view members personally discussing legislation.

Today, the House will stream Gov. Brad Henry’s State of the State address live on www.okhouse.tv<http://www.okhouse.tv/>, which will allow Oklahomans who cannot attend to view the speech online in real-time.

“Since Republicans have taken over the majority, we have worked to move into the 21st century with technology in the House, which has expanded access and promoted openness in the legislative process,” said House Speaker Chris Benge, R-Tulsa. “Adding video capabilities to our media department will further open the lines of communication between the public and their legislators.”
