Why Won’t Conservative Republicans Run

By admin

Two of the most important elected offices locally are School Board and City Council. However, these elected offices are often void of conservative Republicans. Why is this?

For the first time in state history both the Senate and House are controlled by the Republicans.  This is a good thing.  That is as long as the Republicans govern and not try to rewrite legislation to empower themselves and remove local control in government and the process of elections.

Norman’s school board elections are next month and there are three candidates.  None of these people from what I have read or heard about are of the conservative persuasion.  So we conservatives right to political speech are not being heard.  In an area of Norman, that is majority Republican will be voting for a candidate that does not reflect their core political and probably their social beliefs.

We as Republican must be able to encourage and recruit candidates to run for these offices.  One such person is Glenn Cosper.  He is conservative Republican that has served on the Moore Public School Board and on the Metro-Tech Board for many years.  There may be more out there.  Republicans should start taking into practice the old liberal bumper sticker that states “Think Globally Act Locally.”  If Republicans start doing this maybe the registration in the rural counties would start changing from Democrat to Republican, because in the National Offices Republican candidates most often win compared to the state and local Republicans.  Leadership needs to start from the bottom up but the top needs to understand their role and give support.

Hey I agree. Republicans have to do something to encourage candidates to run for these local elections. And when they do not hide behind the no party title of non-partisen. Oklahoma is a mostly right leaning state on national elections. However local and state have been dominated by the dems.

I hear two of the candidates are Dems and one is not for sure what she is, she is registered as an Ind. The question is which candidate is pro-life and is opposed to the radical homosexual agenda? We need true conservatives running for school board and city council.
