Republicans win big in the Wisconsin recall elections on Tuesday. The have only been 13 recall elections in the history of the our nation. No other recall election has ever been so important than the ones that have been held in Wisconsin. This battle is so much more than just the fight over public sector collective bargaining and balancing the state budget.
Just as in 2010 the residents rejected the Democratic big government over spending ideology. The Democrats lost the majority in the State Senate and lost the Governorship two years ago because the Democrats could not come up with a plan to balance the state’s budget without massive tax increases.
Last night was not a total slam dunk for the GOP. Two out of the six Republicans lost to the Democratic challenger. The GOP holds on to a slim majority 19 to 16. However, there are two more recall elections next week of two Democratic Senators. The word on the street is that the Republicans has a 50/50 chance of winning one of those seats.
Could this be interpreted as at least somewhat of a rejection for President Barack Obama, whose own political operatives fought hard for the Democratic candidates. Obama has come out adamantly for unions and interjected himself into Wisconsin politics.
These victories could send a message for 2012. The Democrats spent 35 million dollars that was widely spent on intimidation and lies. If Democrats put their money where their mouth is, that 35 million dollars would have educated many children.
These recall elections were aimed at six Republicans to punish them for voting for Walker’s budge deal that had restrictions on public employee’s collective bargaining. Republican Alberta Darling, Sheila Harsdorf, Luther Olsen, and Robert Cowles over came the Democratic challenge. Democrats winning were Rep. Jennifer Shilling and Rep. Jessica King. That leaves their seats in the House open for the taking.
As reported on Monday, a local PostNet store owner came under attack because of they displayed an Alberta darling sign in their window after the Senator visited with them. This store also displayed the Democratic challengers information also. Jody G Campbell a Democratic hack in Wisconsin has posted a picture of the store and sent emails threatening a nation boycott against the company.
