Back Room Deals By Republicans In Oklahoma

It is Republican elected officials not the party that is involved in the back room deals, I am speaking about .

The Republican Party inspired by the greatness of Abe Lincoln cannot and should not stand for practices of politicians regardless of their party if they cannot pass a smell test.

While it might superficially prove to be legal or lawful, the Republican Party unlike the Democrats stands for a higher group of principles. The Oklahoma voters are disgusted and sick of backroom secret deals and give-a-ways. They should not be condoned in any shape or fashion. We should hold politicians to higher standards of accountability and responsibility. Shady practices are wrong regardless of the party affiliation.

The late Democratic United States Senator Robert S. Kerr once stated, “I am against all conspiracies combinations and restraint of trade, that I ain’t a part of.”  That philosophy is intolerable to responsible citizens who want good and deserve good government.

Our Republican leadership has been a part of the problem. Regrettably, the Republican Party  has been a part of secret deals and give-a-ways through our misguided leadership.

The Republican Party has been a part of these schemes and I can offer all kinds of examples of these backroom deals. Let’s start with the $16 million dollars that was given to two private companies funneled through ACOG under the direction of our Republican leaders in direct violation of the Oklahoma Constitution. Now let’s be cognizant of the alleged backroom deal to fund $80,000 to a Democrat Senator to give her a special position so a Republican can run for her seat. How many times have we heard someone say, “he might be a crook but he is my crook”. The Democrats said that for years about Gene Stipe and now I am hearing Republicans making the same comments and excuses. Friends, we have to be better than that.

The Oklahoma Republican Party recently has been a part of a misguided leadership and we the people have got to stand tall and say, not any more. We can stop it right now. As Barney Fife would say “nip it in the butt”. We can make a difference. We have some solid candidates running for office. Let’s get behind them and at the same time make them aware that we will not tolerate secret or back room deals.
