If i’m from Illinois, but during the election i’ll be in California for college. I have a license from Illinois and an ID from California since we have a house out there. So do I register as a person from California or Illinois?

The people who say you can register in either state are incorrect. You must register in your state of residence, and you can be resident in only one state. Since you also must have a driver’s license in your state of residence, it would appear that your are an Illinois resident, and must register there. You should look into obtaining an absentee ballot.
