Carolyn Mclarty Oklahoma’s National Committeewoman Resolutions gets thumbs up!
RNC RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPUBLICAN MEMBERS OF CONGRESS FOR THEIR OPPOSITION TO BAILOUTS AND RECKLESS SPENDING
WHEREAS, the 2008 Republican National Platform advocates “lower taxes, reasonable regulation, and smaller, smarter government” and calls for tax relief, not big government spending, as key to growing the economy; and
WHEREAS, the Republican National Committee unanimously adopted a resolution in January, 2009, urging all Republican Members of Congress to oppose all bailout bills; and
WHEREAS, a number of bailout and “stimulus” bills considered by Congress during the past year have set our Nation on a march to socialism and have met increased Congressional Republican resistance:
(1) 108 House Republicans and 15 Republican Senators voted against the Bank Bailout Bill;
(2) 150 House Republicans voted against the Auto Bailout Bill;
(3) All 176 House Republicans present and 38 Senate Republicans opposed the President’s “stimulus” bill, which was a bailout of state and local governments, as well as lavishing tax payer money on left wing special interest groups and causes; and
WHEREAS, the President recently proposed a budget which project yearly deficits that are nearly four times greater than any in history, amounting to an additional $9.3 trillion in debt over the next ten years; and
WHEREAS, the President’s budget passed, but over unanimous Republican opposition in both the House and Senate; and
WHEREAS, an effort to fast-track the President’s “Cap and Trade” energy tax, which would further cripple the U.S. economy, was defeated in the Senate with all 41 Republican Senators voting against it; and
WHEREAS, Republican Members of Congress have responded to the call of the Republican National Committee to oppose all bailout and reckless spending bills by now unanimously opposing them;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Members of the Republican National Committee commend the Members of Congress who have opposed the bailout, stimulus, and reckless spending bills, as well as the President’s unsustainable budget; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Members of the Republican National Committee call on Republican Members of Congress to continue to unite in opposition to the Democrat Party’s march to socialism and oppose all further “stimulus,” bailout and reckless spending bills.
