While some people (so called leaders) never take a stand, Carolyn speaks out for freedom. The framers of our Constitution would be proud of Carolyn McLarty; I know I am.

Subject: RNC Resolutions Calling Democrats-as-Socialist
To:To Republican and conservative activists:

On Tuesday, April 21, 16 members of the Republican National Committee petitioned the Chairman of the RNC to call a special meeting to consider three proposed resolutions declaring Democrats-as-Socialist, opposing earmarks and commending Republican Members of Congress for opposing bailouts and reckless government spending. The special RNC meeting has now been scheduled for May 20th, in conjunction with the previously scheduled RNC State Chairman’s meeting in Washington, D.C.

The Republican National Conservative Caucus played a role in the preparation of the resolutions, helping connect conservative members of the RNC with the goal of returning the RNC to the conservative principles upon which the Republican Party was built.

The following is an excerpt from an email sent by RNC Vice Chairman James Bopp, Jr., National Committeeman – Indiana, to members of the RNC, announcing the special meeting and the three resolutions.

The Reasons for the Resolutions

We think all Republicans would agree that we face two very difficult and daunting challenges the preservation of our Constitutional Republic and our way of life against the concerted effort by the Democrats and the Obama administration to impose a far left agenda on America, and the need to restore the faith and confidence of the American people in the Republican Party so that it may be an effective force in stemming the tide toward socialism.

The threat to our country from the Obama administration cannot be underestimated. They are proceeding pell mell to nationalize major industries, to exponentially increase the size, power and intrusiveness of the federal government, to undermine free enterprise and free markets, to raise taxes to a confiscatory level, to strap future generations with enormous unsustainable
debt, to debase our currency, to destroy traditional values and embrace a culture of death, and to weaken our national defense and retreat from the war on terror. Unless stopped, we will not recognize our country in a few short years.

Thus, we believe that these perilous times demand bold and aggressive leadership by the RNC. The national platform of the RNC articulates the conservative principles on which the Republican Party stands. We should clearly state their application to current public policy debates and make it clear that we are prepared to fight for them. And it is time to identify the Democrats for what they are a party on a march to socialism.

The Three Proposed RNC Resolutions

We propose three RNC Resolutions to address the three great issues currently facing our country the Democrats march to socialism, the corrupting problem of earmarks and the radical expansion of government through Obama’s bailouts and reckless spending.

First, Recognizing the Democrats March Towards Socialism, chief sponsor, Jeff Kent, NCM WA. In just a few months, the goal of the Obama administration
has become clear and obvious – to restructure American society along socialist ideals. The proposed resolution acknowledges that and calls upon the Democrats
to be truthful and honest with the American people by renaming themselves the Democrat Socialist Party. Just as President Reagan’s identification of the Soviet Union as the evil empire galvanized opposition to communism, we hope that the accurate depiction of the Democrats as a Socialist Party will galvanize opposition to their march to socialism.

Second, Urging Members of Congress to Abandon Earmarks, chief sponsor, Demetra DeMonte, NCW IL. The first of many broken promises by President Obama is his abandonment of his pledge to oppose earmarks. Earmarks, which direct government spending to specific projects through legislation, corrupt the legislative process, wastefully expand government and are designed to help Congressmen get reelected. The resolution calls for an end to earmarks and
urges Republican Members of Congress to abandon the practice.

Third, Commending Republican Members of Congress for Opposing Government Bailouts and Reckless Government Spending, chief sponsor, Carolyn McLarty, NCW OK. In January 2009, the RNC adopted a resolution urging members of Congress to oppose all further bailout or stimulus legislation. Since then, Congress passed the stimulus bill, an appropriations bill and Obama’s 10-year budget plan. Together, these bills are the most massive increase in government power and spending in the history of our country, lavishing billions on state and
local governments to bail them out of their financial difficulties and creating egregious new spending programs designed to finance the socialist policy goals of the Obama administration. The resolution commends the Republicans in Congress who have opposed bailout and reckless spending bills and celebrates
the unanimous opposition of Republican Members of Congress to the 10-year budget plan and the
cap-and-trade? energy tax bill.
