Oklahoma Chambers Are Left Wing?

NBC: Oklahoma Stem cell bill puts researchers in jeopardyThis “news” article posted on Tulsa’s local NBC website should draw fire from conservatives NOW, especially from our elected officials and community leaders. See why below:

Both the OKC and Tulsa Chamber of Commerce are asking Gov. Henry to veto the bill. They are now disrespecting the beliefs of their many pro-life members. All pro-life members of the OK Chambers of Commerce joined the organization to help promote their business and build their network. They have been compromised, and should be outraged.

Our local NBC affiliate is taking a political position on this issue, and is being dishonest to their viewers and readers who rely on NBC for fair and accurate news.
I should have expected such a slanted liberal hit job from an NBC affiliate. The title of this article says it all: “Stem cell bill puts researchers in jeopardy”.

1. As usual, it gives the liberal point of view (opinion) for 95% of the article, and then an out of context quote from the conservative without explaining his view or telling the whole, true story.

2. The title reads as a statement of fact, when in reality, it is an assumption based on opinion. It is obvious that the writer of this article has done no research on this subject. It is not news. It is not professional journalism. It is left wing political activism.

Here is my understanding of the bill and this issue:

a. The bill outlaws “EMBRYONIC” stem cell research only, because most Americans agree that it is wrong to essentially make a “test tube baby” for the purpose of extracting it’s stem cells and then “aborting” it.

b. The bill actually provides a larger budget for non-embryonic stem cell research, giving Oklahoma scientists and medical researchers more financial help than ever. Now why would NBC leave that fact out?

c. There has NEVER been a single study that proved embryonic stem cell research helps ANY medical condition. It has always turned out to be an ineffective waste of money and human life. Those who lobby for this practice are using speculative reasoning. And when following the money trail, we find that it is a potential gold mine for abortion services and cloning advocates. There is a lofty market for selling baby body parts in the name of science.

d. Republicans have always supported stem cell research, especially when it involves the ONLY kind that has ever proven to be effective in healing victims of burns and diseases … and that would be NON-EMBRYONIC!

There has already been an amazing amount of results from research involving stem cells from adult skin and cord blood, and objective scientists need more help to continue. Now they will get it unless Governor Henry caves in and vetoes the bill.
